Mt. Hood Jazz Festival - The Old Church

Presented by Emmet Cohen

Wednesday, April 22, 2025

The Mt. Hood Jazz Festival kicks off its five-day immersion into the jazz culture at The Old Church! This first event includes professional performances by world-renowned artists.

In celebration of the centennial of John Colrene and Miles Davis, pianist Emmet Cohen brings together an all-star quintet to explore the fundamental questions that shaped their artistry: Why are we here? What are we reaching for? Where does the music take us?

Joining him are four of today’s leading voices, including:

  • Tivon Pennicott (saxophone)
  • Jeremy Pelt (trumpet)
  • Yasushi Nakamura (bass)
  • Joe Farnsworth (drums)

Together, this powerhouse ensemble reimagines the spirit and sound of two of jazz’s most iconic innovators through improvisational brilliance, emotional depth, and cultural resonance.
